Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has warned the club’s stars not to start feeling sorry for themselves after the 4-1 hammering they were given in the derby at the weekend.

Liverpool are their next opponents in a Capital One Cup tie and Vidic has demanded a winning reaction from his teammates.

Chelsea outcasts Juan Mata and David Luiz will be recalled to the first team squad by Jose Mourinho for their Capital One Cup clash with Swindon Town on Tuesday.

Both players have struggled to get playing time since the Portuguese took over and will be given the chance to prove they are worth a more prominent first team role.

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs says the club’s stars will raise their level even further so as to not let down new record signing Mesut Özil.

The German was key to all three goals in the 3-1 win over Stoke City and Gibbs feels he can take the club to the next level – as long as his Gunners teammates can lay the foundations.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has described the match against Aston Villa as “impossible” and bemoaned the fixture pile-up.

Spurs will play their Premier League counterparts in the Capital One Cup barely 48 hours after the stoppage time win at Cardiff on Sunday.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero insisted there were “no individual heroes” in the 4-1 derby thrashing of Manchester United.

Ageuro was hailed after scoring twice in the match, but he believes the win was down to an immaculate team performance and no individual player should be singled out.

Barcelona had less possession in a match for the first time since they lost to Real Madrid in May 2008 – a run of 315 matches.

Gerardo Martino’s side allowed more shots and completed less passes than Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, though it mattered little as they were comfortable 4-0 winners.
