Chelsea chase Wolfsburg winger

Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs has claimed that clubs from England and Italy are monitoring Chelsea target Julian Brandt, reports Sky Sports.

In an interview with German newspaper Bild, the Bundesliga chief spoke openly about the mounting speculation that currently surrounds the exciting teenager's future.

"It's nothing new that clubs from England and Italy are wanting to sign Julian Brandt," Allofs said. "He has received a good schooling at our club.

"We have already told him about his options and the chances he will get if he stays. But we cannot force him to sign on with us."

Still 17, Brandt is yet to make his first-team debut at the Volkswagen Arena, as manager Dieter Hecking looks to protect the emerging young talent.

He's still tied to a youth contract at present, and so will be free to leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season - for a fee that will be decided by a tribunal - if he fails to agree fresh terms.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been credited with an interest in bringing Brandt to Stamford Bridge, and according to reports earlier this week, is ready to battle the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for the winger's signature.
