Luis Suarez comeback: Individual highlights

Luis Suarez returned to action for Liverpool last night in their 1-0 Capital One cup defeat against rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The striker hadn't played for the club since the tail end of last season, and after a tumultuous summer where he made plain his desire to leave, many Liverpool fans were unsure what to expect of the man who was voted the second best player in the Premier League last time round.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was confident before the game that the Uruguayan wouldn't be too rusty despite his lay-off, having pushed him hard in training and let him take part in various lower-level games.

He at least turned out to be half right as Suarez was instantly at Manchester United's throats, buzzing around and being a nuisance. However his match-sharpness was just lacking as he failed to sync up harmoniously with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Victor Moses.

Suarez came close to grabbing a famous goal in the second half but could only ripple the side netting - it ultimately proved to be that sort of evening for the controversial forward.
