Gonzalo Higuain believes Arsenal have got themselves a bargain in £42.5 million man Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners snapped up Ozil on deadline day for a club record fee having missed out on Higuain to Napoli earlier in the summer window.

The former Real Madrid team-mates will come face to face in the Champions League for their new sides on Tuesday.

Higuain believes Arsenal have got themselves a bargain despite his hefty price tag because he is one of the best players in the world.

“I had the pleasure to play with Mesut and he is one of the best players in the world," he told the Mirror.

“As a striker he is a dream to play with – because you know he is going to create you chances.
“When you look at some of the crazy fees that players moved for this summer you have to say that Mesut was a great deal for Arsenal.”

Arsene Wenger has admitted he tried and failed to sign Higuain during the summer window before his £35 million switch to Napoli.

Higuain, who scored in Napoli's Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund in this year's 'group of death', insists he made the right choice in choosing Naples over north London.

“I am very happy that I joined Napoli. We have started well in the league in Italy and have got off to a good start in Europe too," he said.

“I know there was other interest from England and Italy – but I am very sure that I made the right choice by joining Napoli and have no regrets. It is a club where I can achieve everything I want.

“Arsenal are a very good team and have some top players – I am sure they will be looking to win this group. I know the game is in London, but that does not mean we will be going there looking for a point.

“That is not the way we play, and I believe we have the quality to get a win.

“We got off to a very good start against Dortmund. They were the finalists last season so it was a very big win for us.

“This is such a strong group that it was very important that we got off to a winning start. It is probably the only group where you can say that every team in it has a real chance of progressing.”
