Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher could be available for selection by the end of October, according to Goal.com.
The Scotsman has not featured in a competitive game for the Red Devils since United's 4-3 win against Newcastle United in December 2012.
Fletcher has been unable to train with his Manchester United teammates over the last nine months due to a longstanding chronic bowel problem.
The 29-year-old underwent surgery in January to resolve the condition but has been given time off to fully recover from the operation.
Red Devils boss David Moyes named Fletcher in his Premier League 25-man squad earlier this month, which would have given the Scottish international a much-needed boost ahead of his return.
Manchester United's medical team are reluctant to publicly announce an anticipated return date for Fletcher in case he suffers any further setbacks.
Moyes will be delighted to have Fletcher back at his disposal with his current crop of stars failing to impress.
