Frank Lampard believes Tottenham will have to handle the same pressure Chelsea have faced in order to win the Premier League title this season.

Chelsea and Spurs played out a 1-1 draw this past weekend at White Hart Lane and Lampard has insisted that Andre Villas-Boas' side can challenge for the title this season but will have to deal with the pressure.

The north London outfit made several signings in the summer, and despite losing Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, many believe they can be serious contenders for the title.

Villas-Boas' side have made a strong start to the league campaign and sit in third place after their opening six games of the season.

But Lampard believes they will have to show great consistency in order to continue their challenge.

Speaking to reporters, the England international said: "They’re a very good team.

"They are going to be looking at winning the league.

"That’s what you have to do when you spend that money. We’ve lived for the last eight years with that pressure, year in year out, and that’s what Tottenham have to deal with if they want to win the league.

"You have to get a level of consistency and it’s not easy. It's a difficult league."

Lampard's Chelsea are currently two points behind their London rivals in the table.
