David de Gea has claimed that it could be up to three years before £15million man Wilfried Zaha is ready for Manchester United.
Zaha, who was massively influential during Crystal Palace's successful promotion from the Championship last term, has struggled for game-time since his move to Old Trafford, but is hotly tipped as one for the future.
And goalkeeper David de Gea believes it may be a while yet before United fans can see Zaha replicating the form that earned him his big money move to the English giants.
De Gea said: “He has areas he needs to work on but over the next three years he’ll develop into an excellent player.”
It is thought that Palace boss Ian Holloway had tried to convince United to allow the 20-year-old to return to his newly promoted side for one more season-long loan, but his proposal was refused by the Red Devils.
This prompted speculation that Zaha may in fact play a significant part in David Moyes' debut campaign with the Premier League champions, but he has been forced to play second fiddle to the likes of Nani, Antonio Valencia and the disappointing Ashley Young.
