Chelsea will bid to kickstart their spluttering Champions League campaign when they face Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday evening, having lost their opening match of the group stages.

The Blues fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat against Basel at Stamford Bridge, which provided mild fears that the club could fail to escape their group for the second season in succession.

An win in Romania would appear to be imperative, then, and Chelsea are favourites with bookmakers to claim their first points of their European campaign.

Jose Mourinho has been keen to tinker, particularly with his midfield, since he has returned to the club, and there will be at least one enforced change for the manager against Steaua.

Eden Hazard was injured in the weekend draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane at will miss out in Europe, with Andre Schurrle likely to be included in the absence of the Belgium international.

The impressive substitute appearance of Juan Mata against Spurs is likely to see the Spaniard granted a starting spot, although Oscar is still the man in possession of the No.10 role.

Jon Obi Mikel, who was replaced by Mata at White Hart Lane, looks set to lose his starting place to the midfielder, with Ramires adopting a more central role alongside Frank Lampard.

Fernando Torres, meanwhile, should lead the Chelsea attack again, with the striker only suspended domestically.

Predicted Chelsea XI to face Steaua Bucharest:

Petr Cech; Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole; Ramires, Frank Lampard; Juan Mata, Oscar, Andre Schurrle; Fernando Torres
