England and Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has told Sky Sports that he wants to extend his stay at Manchester United.

The 32-year old's current deal expires at the end of this season, and despite suffering in his first few seasons at Old Trafford, Carrick has nailed down a starting spot in the United midfield.

Carrick has been hailed as one of the Premier League's best central midfielders after playing in integral part of United's championship-winning season last term. His accurate passing and tempo-setting influence on games have added solidity and reliability to United's midfield.

After signing from Tottenham in 2006, Carrick has played 328 times for United, winning five titles. He told Sky Sports he wants to continue to play for United beyond this season:

"I'd love to carry on playing as long as possible at this club. It's a fantastic club, I've had great times here.

"I feel good at the moment, I've just turned 32 so I've got a bit of time yet."

The England international earns a reported £60,000 per week, and has become a fan favourite after some solid performances in United's recent successes.
