Arsenal eye January Ba bid

Arsenal look set to rekindle their interest in Demba Ba, with the Metro reporting that the Gunners are set to make a new offer for the Chelsea striker in January.

28-year-old Ba joined the Blues from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in January but the Senegalese international has largely failed to impress at Stamford Bridge and appears to have fallen out of favour under returning manager Jose Mourinho this season.

Since the Portuguese returned for his second stint in West London during the summer, Ba has featured just once in the Premier League and has only made two further substitute appearances in the Europa League and Capital One Cup respectively.

Former West Ham star Ba, who was brought to Chelsea by deeply unpopular interim boss Rafael Benitez, was widely linked with a switch away from the club during the summer transfer window, with Arsenal reportedly keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium to provide competition for in-form Frenchman Olivier Giroud.

Arsene Wenger's men were unable to complete a deal before the window slammed shut, however, but could be set to resurrect their interest when it re-opens in January.

The Metro believe that the Gunners could be keen to take Ba on an initial loan deal before looking to complete a £5 million switch during the summer.
