Arsenal's shock deadline-day signing of Mesut Özil was one of the biggest transfer deals of the summer.
The young German, often hailed as one of the finest midfielders in the world, was a huge coup for both Wenger and his club who had seen countless players sign for other teams over the north London side in what was very nearly a complete bust of a transfer window for the Gunners.
Just a few months on and Özil's impact on Arsenal has already been phenomenal; after the devastating 1-3 loss at home to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season, Arsenal, now equipped with a world-class play-maker, have won their last ten matches in a row and sit on top of the Premier League, as well as their Champions League group.
However, Mesut Özil's impact on his new club will not be confined simply to the pitch this season. Come January, when the transfer window opens up again, he will become Wenger's best method of attracting more of the brilliant players that he failed so many times to bring in over the summer.
Lars Bender, Marco Reus and even Mario Balotelli have all reportedly been provoking interest in Wenger's camp this season and with the estimated £40million Arsenal still have left in their transfer kitty, combined with the star player pulling-power of Mesut Özil, there will be no reason Wenger shouldn't be able to get any player he wants.
Arsenal have done very well so far this season but after next January, no one will doubt that they are very serious title contenders.
