Pirelli is under fire again as the tyres played a more significant role in the Korean Grand Prix than in recent races.
Speaking after qualifying on Saturday, Fernando Alonso blasted the quality of the Pirelli rubber saying the products are "very on the edge", and now Mark Webber has had his say.
Responding to Alonso's attack Pirelli's head of motorsport, Paul Hembery jibed: "I can only suggest he goes to ask the soon-to-be four time champion how to get the best from the same tyres."
Hembery since met with Alonso on Sunday to apologise for his harsh rebuke but no sooner had one man been calmed another came out.
Before his fiery retirement thanks to a burst oil radiator, Webber claimed he had picked up a puncture from what he described as SergIo Perez's tyre 'explosion', though it is expected a lock-up just prior to the failure could be blamed.
Webber then claimed the Italian supplier was unconcerned about the driver's safety.
"I think I got a Pirelli puncture from a Pirelli tyre," he lamented.
Lewis Hamilton was also left frustrated by poor tyres as he described on set as "f****d" over the radio.
"It's strange, you know," the Briton said afterwards. "Me and Fernando in fifth and sixth at the end having our own little race, yet we are of a higher calibre than that."
And Webber is quoted by the BBC as commenting: "The drivers aren't super important (to Pirelli) -- it is what other people want."
One man seemingly at one with the Pirelli tyres, however, is Sebastian Vettel. The German's controlled drive in South Korea saw him increase his lead to 77 points meaning if he wins in Japan and Alonso is worst than eighth he will wrap up the title.
