Manchester United eyeing Benfica star Ivan Cavaleiro

Manchester United are considering a bid for young Portuguese attacker Ivan Cavaleiro and could move for him as early as the January transfer window.

According to The Sun, the Old Trafford club's scouts have been sending glowing reports back to manager David Moyes about the Benfica B star and an approach for him is quite possible.

Cavaleiro is yet to make an appearance for the senior Benfica side but has been making a name for himself by scoring regularly, notching seven times in only ten games.

Manchester United's interest in the 19-year-old will be worrying news for some of the club's current wingers, who have not been providing quality consistently this season.

Ashley Young has come in for particular criticism so far this season after some lacklustre performances and he has only made three starts - the former Aston Villa star has not looked the same since coming back from a long term foot injury earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Shinji Kagawa has not seen a great deal of first team football since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2012 and has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga side in January.

Cavaleiro is a very promising talent and has represented Portugal at every age level up to the Under-20s.
