Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs has admitted that the German outfit are interested in securing the services of Chelsea ace Kevin De Bruyne, reports Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old, who was dropped from the first-team scene earlier this season, faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

However, the midfielder has attracted a lot of interest for the star with Wolfsburg's German rivals Werder Bremen also interested in the Belgian international. However, Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has dismissed reports that his club will enter the race for the star.

Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen could now go head-to-head for the star in the January transfer window.

And, on the potential signing of the star for Wolfsburg, Allofs told Sky Deutschland:  "We as a club have given our signal of interest in the services of Kevin De Bruyne. This was done over the summer when it became obvious that he would be returning to Chelsea.

"Kevin De Bruyne is no first team regular at this point in time. We will definitely consider what is going on with him."

It's uncertain as to whether De Bruyne will make a return to the Blues first-team set up under Jose Mourinho.

He's currently on international duty with Belgium as the Red Devils hope to secure their place in the Brazil World Cup.
