Ex-Man United defender compares Januzaj to Özil

Former-Manchester United defender Henning Berg thinks Adnan Januzaj can become a top Premier League player - and his playing style reminds him of Mesut Özil.

Speaking to talkSPORT radio, the former Red Devil compared the 18-year-old Januzaj with the German playmaker.

"He reminds me a lot of Ozil," said Berg. "He is that kind of player. Obviously he is not at that level yet, but he is a similar type of player with similar abilities and hopefully he can improve to be a top, top player."

Januzaj is the latest United teenage sensation following the 18-year-old's two-goal performance against Sunderland last weekend.

His match-winning performance - not to mention the subsequent squabble over his international future - has filled the back pages and even prompted a debate on the nature of nationhood.

And Berg sees similarities with Özil - Arsenal's record signing this summer. The Germany international has that rare ability to glide past players without relying on elaborate tricks and Berg sees that same trait in Januzaj.

The Belgium-born playmaker was making his first Premier League start against the Black Cats, but his immediate impact ensures it's unlikely to be the last.

With Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia out of form, Januzaj could have a big role to play for United going forward this season.
