'Doing a LeBron' not an option for Irving

LeBron James broke countless hearts when he decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, with the NBA superstar opting to sign for the Miami Heat to much fanfare.

It is a move that still provides deep hurt for Cavaliers fans, who have seen their former hero win two consecutive NBA championships, while LeBron and the Heat look pretty good for a third in a row.

Kyrie Irving, though, is establishing himself as a successor of sorts to LeBron with the Cavaliers and, despite the 21-year-old looking set to stay in Cleveland for some time yet, fans are worried they could lose him.

The former NBA Rookie of the Year has, however, moved to allay fears that he could 'do a LeBron' anytime soon, with Irving confirming he has no intention to leave the Cavaliers.

Irving was speaking to a group of children as part of a Cavs organised event, when one plucky youngster asked the point guard if he would follow in the footsteps of LeBron.

He said: "Are you going to leave us like LeBron (James) left us?"

And Irving gave fans the answer they wanted to hear, with a simple 'no' enough to send the assembled kids into fits of screaming.
