Barcelona star Pedro has admitted that he would be "thrilled" to see Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina join the club.

31-year-old Reina is currently on loan with Rafael Benitez's Serie A title hopefuls Napoli after Simon Mignolet's arrival at Liverpool pushed him down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

With his Premier League career seemingly at an end, Reina has made no secret of his desire to return to former employers Barcelona when his current contract expires last summer.

And, with Gerardo Martino's current number one - Victor Valdes - adamant that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, a return for Reina looks increasingly likely.

According to Spanish international Pedro, this is a move that would delight both he and his current teammates.

"He knows the club, having played here before and would be a great keeper for us," the 26-year-old told Esport3 in an interview that as quoted by Marca.

"We’d be thrilled to welcome Pepe into the team because we already know him. He’d settle very quickly."

Barcelona, who currently sit top of La Liga with 24 points after a thoroughly impressive start to life under new manager Martino, return to domestic action following the current international break with a trip to face Osasuna on October 19.
