Arsenal are being linked with a January move for Chelsea striker Demba Ba, according to reports.

French publication Le 10 Sport cite reports in Italy when claiming that Arsene Wenger is keen on the Senegalese striker, and hopes to bring him to north London in the New Year.

Ba was linked with a loan move to the Emirates Stadium in the final stages of the summer transfer window, but Jose Mourinho pulled the plug on his player moving to the Gunners.

After a frustrating few months at the start of the current season, Ba is still waiting for an opportunity to make his mark at Chelsea, with the 28-year-old battling Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o for first team chances.

In truth, the striker has struggled to impress since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January. He scored just two goals in 14 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season.

His future in west London could now hinge on Mourinho, with ‘the Special One’ previously admitting that he didn’t want the player to join one of Chelsea’s rivals.

Arsene Wenger’s side certainly fall into that category after a fine start to the season, with Arsenal sitting atop the domestic table with 16 points from seven matches.

However, the Gunners have been reliant on the form of Olivier Giroud, with limited options should the Frenchman get injured.

Ba could provide that for the Arsenal boss if he could lure the player to the club in 2014, but Wenger will have to get over the Mourinho hurdle before he represents the Blues’ capital rivals.
