Tottenham are ready to offer Brazilian midfielder Paulinho a new deal to stay at White Hart Lane with Spanish giants Real Madrid interested in the star, reports the Daily Star.

Paulinho, who only signed for Tottenham from Corinthians in a deal worth £17 million in the summer, has made an impressive start to his career with the north London outfit.

And, after reported interest from Real Madrid, who have signed ex-Spurs stars Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in recent years, the club are now ready to hand the midfielder a new long-term contract.

The star's current deal with Spurs runs out in 2017, however the club are prepared to offer Paulinho an extension, while also adding an extra year onto his current deal.

Villas-Boas is keen to tie down the star before the January transfer window opens. Paulinho is expected to take part in Spurs' trip to Aston Villa this weekend.
