Manchester United target Juan Mata is back on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France.
Le 10 Sport claim the Ligue 1 giants have maintained an interest in the Spanish international midfielder, and plan to make contact with Chelsea before the end of the year.
The playmaker was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils, Valencia and Atletico Madrid among the clubs pursuing the 25-year-old.
Mata struggled to make an impact in the Chelsea first team at the start of the season, and spent plenty of time on the bench in the opening weeks of the season.
However, he’s broken back into Jose Mourinho’s side with a number of top performances, and is now challenging the likes of Oscar for a place in ‘the special one’s’ first team.
That hasn’t appeared to stop interested parties however, and Laurent Blanc is eager to add the player to his squad at the Parc des Princes as part of a 'plan B' diamond formation.
How their interest affects Manchester United remains to be seen, but the Premier League champions remain short of an attacking midfielder with the ability to break down a defence.
David Moyes was linked with a number of top players in the summer, as he looked to make his mark at Old Trafford after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at the Red Devils helm.
But, after failing to lure Cesc Fabregas or Thiago Alcantara to Manchester United, his only significant addition was Marouane Fellaini.
The club have made an average start to the season, and with Shinji Kagawa failing to make his mark under Moyes, a creative player at the heart of the side appears to be missing.
Mata would certainly fit the bill, and could integrate quickly into the Manchester United side because of his Premier League experience.
However, persuading Chelsea to sell to one of their rivals would be anything but easy, and means that PSG have a more realistic chance of landing the player if Mourinho does decide to sell.
