Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has unveiled the latest Nike footwear he will use to terrorise defences for club and country this season, and they have something of an intergalactic vibe.

Ronaldo took to his official Facebook and Twitter accounts on Sunday to release images of the new Nike Mercurial IX, which go alongside the launch of the new CR7 Collection.

Nike state that Ronaldo's new boots have a digital print of the Star Vela Supernova all-over their surface, while there is a seven-star path also printed, to highlight his iconic No.7 shirt, which he wore at Manchester United before doing so at Real Madrid.

The famous Nike swoosh is given a chrome makeover, and Ronaldo believes the boots represent his 'personality and style of play'.

“It’s great to collaborate with Nike. It gives me added confidence to know that they take my thoughts to create the best boot for me,” Ronaldo said in the official Nike press release.

“In addition to the way the boots perform, it’s also cool when we create something that represents my personality and style of play. It's a very special relationship."

The CR7 collection, meanwhile, offers a range of jackets and t-shirts inspired by the style of the Portugal captain, and designed to use in the worlds of sport and style.

Using a performance approach to lifestyle design, the CR7 Collection offers functional utility, comfort, and protection from the elements without sacrificing style - or at least that's what Nike claim.
