Former West Ham boss Billy Bonds has described former pal Harry Redknapp as pathetic after the former Tottenham boss released his revealing autobiography.

Redknapp was assistant to Bonds when he was in charge at Upton Park, before replacing his former friend after 27 years at the club as player and manager.

Bonds felt betrayed by Redknapp and the pair have failed to put their differences aside since.

And speaking of the time in his new book, the FA Cup winning manager described Bonds as a 'man out of time' and accused his regime of being a 'shambles'.

However, after years of keeping silent, Bonds has felt the need to respond to Redknapp following the claims in his book, speaking to West Ham fans' website Knees Up Mother Brown.

"For him to come out with what he said was disrespectful to the players and one or two of the staff who were over there,” Bonds is quoted as saying on the Independent. “I think he’s been very liberal with the truth - but that’s much as I expected."

Since their 1994 split the pair's managerial careers have taken different courses.

While Bonds' only over managerial venture came with a short stint at Millwall, Redknapp has gone on to become a top manager in the Premier League.

He won the FA Cup with Portsmouth in 2008, before joining Tottenham Hotspur and qualifying for the Champions League.

After being sacked by the North London club he re-entered management in an attempt to save Queens Park Rangers from relegation.

Having failed to keep the club in the Premier League he is currently manager of the club in the Championship.
