Arsenal are perfect for Robert Lewandowski

If ever Arsenal needed a reminder of how valuable Robert Lewandowski would be to their team, he delivered one himself last night by scoring the winner in a 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

His driving 90 yard run in the 85th minute showed remarkable fitness and determination whilst his deft finish oozed class.

No wonder the world has been raving about the 25-year-old Polish international for over a year now.

His contract is up at the end of the season and it was widely believed he would move to Dortmund's rivals Bayern Munich.

He has, however, recently stated that he might not necessarily sign for the Bavarians and said the Premier League is an attracting prospect.

Cue pandemonium amongst England's elites as no doubt all of the top four clubs would love to have Lewandowski spearheading their attack.

But whilst Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City scramble for his signature, Arsenal stand out as the best place for the Pole to ply his trade should he opt for England.

Arsenal's need for a striker couldn't be clearer.

Although Olivier Giroud has so far impressed this season, it would be unreasonable to suggest that he can keep up his intense work rate for 60 games a season.

He will be overplayed and he will get injured. When that happens Arsene Wenger can only call on Nicklas Bendtner to replace the Frenchman.

Lewandowski knows he could walk in to this Arsenal team and knows he will be seen as another marquee signing - worshipped by the Emirates faithful from day one.

Not only this, but Arsenal have a talented young squad with an enviable midfield. Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are destined to provide whoever is in front of them with a plethora of pin point passes. Lewandowski's job would be made so much easier than it currently is at Dortmund.

Although sitting without a trophy in almost nine years, it is likely that this Arsenal team will start to challenge for honours again in the near-future.

Possibly a few world-class stars away from challenging in the Champions League, Arsenal can still challenge domestically and offer Lewandowski the best chance to win silverware in England over the next five years.

Alternatively he could sign for Manchester United where he faces competitions with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who both look isolated behind an uninspiring midfield.

Manchester City look strong - too strong - and it is likely Lewandowski would face being constantly rotated with Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo no matter how well he plays.

Chelsea, who already have four strikers on their books, look the most appealing on paper what with their creative midfield talents Oscar and Eden Hazard, but competing with a resurrected Fernando Torres and soon-to-be world star Romelu Lukaku up front rules them out.

It seems Arsenal are the way forward for Lewandowski. They have a strong squad, excellent prospects and money to burn.

If he wants a fresh challenge in a new country, he'd do well to find a better place to be right now than the Emirates stadium.
