Diaby has been an Arsenal player since January 2006, and after suffering his first major injury soon after, he's never really been able to string a run of games together since.
123 league appearances in eight years tells it's own tale, and Gooners will always be wondering what if for the big Frenchman.
The heir apparent to legendary skipper Patrick Vieira, Diaby at his best is as physically dominant as he is masterfully technical.
Still, there's hope for the gangly midfielder yet - van Persie didn't find fitness at Arsenal until he was 28 and Diaby is currently 27.
Maybe he'll regain fitness and replicate the Dutchman's late-career burst.
If he does, I hear United are in need of a midfielder...
