In the latest Manchester United match in the UEFA Champions League against Real Sociedad, David Moyes (finally) gave a chance in the starting XI to Japanese maestro Shinji Kagawa.
Kagawa made good of his chance, and really proved that he deserves to be picked more often.
Although we all know that Kagawa's primary position is central attacking midfielder, Moyes used him on the left wing on Wednesday night. But playing a different position didn't slow down Japanese star, as he had the ball a lot in his legs and he made some great plays.
We were able to see that Kagawa has good chemistry with United's legend Ryan Giggs, as these two players worked well together on the pitch. We were able to see that sometimes they even switched positions during the match, so that Kagawa was playing more in a midfield role.
No matter where Kagawa played, he really made an impact and created some nice chances that Chicharito and Wayne Rooney couldn't convert into goals.
When Javier Hernandez was replaced by Ashley Young in the 80th minute, Kagawa moved to his primary position, and Rooney moved forward into the striker's spot. In these last few minutes of the game, Kagawa really impressed playing his natural position.
His performance in this game should really provide Moyes with something to think about, as he earned some critics for not playing Kagawa early in the season. After Wednesday's match, it will really be surprising if the player won't get more chances.
In my opinion, Kagawa should be a regular starter, whether on the left or right wing or central midfield, he will make an impact in every game for sure.
With the schedule coming on for United (Stoke, Norwich, Fulham, Real Sociedad), Moyes should consider playing Kagawa in each and every of these games, as he needs to gain some self- confidence, because we were also able to see that he was a little rusty in terms of shooting.
Even though he made some key passes that gave other players a chance to finish, Kagawa wasn't a threat to score by himself, but we all know that he is able to get goals.
In the same time, Moyes should rest Robin van Persie and Rooney, and give Chicharito more chances in these games. If he and Kagawa can make the most of these games, it will be great for United as the season progresses.
But Moyes will need to be aware that he has a lot of great players in his rotation, and that it will be best if he will try to use everyone as much as he can.
