Arsenal and Manchester City have been dealt a blow in their alleged pursuit of Iker Casillas, after Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the goalkeeper has no desire to leave Real Madrid, reports

The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish giants in recent months, as he continues to play second-fiddle to Diego Lopez at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"It's a question for Iker, but I don't think he thinks like that," said Ancelotti, when asked if the player would ask for a move. "I have spoken with him to explain the situation.

"When he wants to talk to me, my door is always open. For a coach, to explain the situation is the most difficult.

"I already knew Diego Lopez. In 2006 I wanted to bring him to AC Milan. He started before the pre-season and was very strong. It wasn't an easy decision."

Casillas was initially dropped under the former stewardship of Jose Mourinho, after falling out with the now Chelsea manager, and was expected to regain his first-team place when Ancelotti took charge in the summer.

Despite featuring for Real Madrid in Wednesday's Champions League win over Juventus, the Spain international is expected to be dropped again for Saturday's La Liga clash against Barcelona.

"Casillas gives me confidence and so I play him in the Champions League, these games are as important as La Liga.

"He is the captain, he has a lot of experience and he maintains the harmony in the team."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in bringing Casillas to the Emirates Stadium, while Manuel Pellegrini is also believed to be considering a move for him in light of Joe Hart's loss of form at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Arsenal and Manchester City might have to consider alternative goalkeeper targets, as Casillas remains happy at Real Madrid.

"Iker wants to stay at Madrid and this is good for us," concluded Ancelotti. "But I've made my decision [on who will play against Barcelona]."
