The Gunners star has been plagued by injury his career and keeping the talented England international fit is crucial if Arsenal are to realise their potential as Premier League contenders.
Wilshere was seen sat on the bench with ice around his ankle after leaving the field in Arsenal's midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
While Arsene Wenger welcomes the return of Mathieu Flamini to his squad after the French midfielder suffered concussion in the Gunners last Premier League game, they are still missing Theo Walcott who was hoped to return before this tie.
And in another blow to Arsenal's chances, Jack Wilshere is struggling to make the game, and is currently undergoing tests.
The Arsenal medical staff won't want to rush Wilshere, with the 21-year-old having suffered a number of ankle problems already in his career.
In-form Aaron Ramsey has also operated in the more advanced position already this season and could do so on Saturday with Arteta and Flamini a possible midfield partnership.
Speaking to Arsenal.com, Wenger said: "Wilshere (ankle) will be checked later by the medical people and we'll see if I will involve him or not."
Having suffered defeat late on against Dortmund on Tuesday, Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face managerless Palace at Selhurst Park.
A win would see Wenger's men remain top of the league, and give them confidence going into a difficult run of fixtures.
The Gunners follow the palace game with consecutive fixtures against Chelsea, Liverpool, Dortmund and Manchester United.
