Liverpool are eager to sign Djurgarden IF defender Daniel Amartey, according to the Daily Star.

18-year-old Amartey arrived in Sweden from Ghanaian outfit International Allies earlier this year and has caught the eye with a series of impressive shwoings for the Stockholm-based Allsvenskan side.

Such imperious form has seen the Ghana youth international linked with a move to one of Europe's more prestigious domestic leagues.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers - who sought to boost his first-choice backline with the signings of Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure during the summer - is believed to be eager to sign Amartey, according to reports.

Rodgers' Reds, who finished seventh in the top-flight last season, have started the 2013/14 in promising form and currently sit third in the table behind London duo Arsenal and Chelsea.

Following last week's 3-1 eventful 2-2 draw with Newcastle at St James' Park, Liverpool return to action on Saturday with a clash against Steve Clarke's West Brom at Anfield.
