It's out - the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or award 2013 contains all the usual suspects, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Franck Ribery.

They're all there - but what about some of the players overlooked for this year's award.

It's not easy to pick out realistic contenders when the "short" list contains 23 names, but we've done our best here to select five stars - from the Premier League and abroad - who deserved a spot in the 23.
