Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to comments made by FIFA president Sepp Blatter by posting the video of the 77-year-old saying he prefers Lionel Messi with the message: "This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me".
Real Madrid have demanded an apology from Blatter after he said Ronaldo is the type of player who 'has more expenses for the hairdresser than the other', while Messi is a "good boy" of whom any Mother "would be proud".
The Real Madrid superstar wrote on his Facebook page along with the video: "This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, for my club and my country.
"Much is explained now. I wish Mr. Blatter health and a long life, with the certainty that he will continue to witness, as he deserves, the successes of his favourite teams and players."
Earlier today Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed club president Florentino Perez had sent a letter to FIFA asking for clarification over Blatter's remarks, saying they show a 'lack of respect' for the 28-year-old.
Blatter's comments, made during a talk at the Oxford Union recently, were also admonished by the Portugal's football federation, whose president, Fernando Gomes, who said they were "inappropriate".
"It was with surprise I watched and analysed the words of Sepp Blatter about the captain of our national team," he said in a statement. "I think the comments ... show a clear lack of respect both towards Ronaldo and Portugal, a country that lives its football intensely."
Gomes was also critical of Blatter for revealing he is a fan of Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.
"We sent Fifa a letter asking for the president to tell us what are the real intentions of his words since we do not understand how he could make such comments," said Gomes.
Both Ronaldo and Messi were included on the 23-man list for the 2013 Ballon d'Or, with the winner announced in January.
