Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has revealed he has no intention of going into management once he retires from playing, but is interested in discovering the next big talent to emerge at Stamford Bridge.

The England left-back is now 32 years old and life after football is something he has been thinking about and, though he is yet to make any concrete plans, Cole is sure that he will not be following the well-worn path into management.

Cole's current contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season and he is keen to extend that for another season, but he is realistic that his playing days will not be lasting for too many more years.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea TV this week, Cole revealed his ideal role would be that of a scout and trying to spot the next prominent international players, as he does not feel he has the character needed to be an effective manager.

“It’s not really in my character to be ordering people about. I am looking for a scouting job to be honest," he said when asked about going into management.

“I enjoy watching football. It would be nice to watch the young players play, hopefully scout a few players and watch them on to international level.”
