Liverpool are tracking Hellas Verona star Juan Iturbe, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims Liverpool scouts are monitoring the Argentinian playmaker, who is on loan at the Italian club from Porto.

Highly-regarded as a teenager back in Argentina, Iturbe was dubbed the 'new Messi' following his move to Porto in 2010 - although he's since distanced himself from the comparisons.

Diminutive - he stands just 5ft-6in - skilful and an excellent dribbler, his Argentine passport made the comparisons all but inevitable.

But he struggled to settle in Porto after moving aged just 18-years-old. Two years without much football followed before he returned to Argentina for a brief loan spell with River Plate.

That successful stint led to his most recent temporary switch to Serie A new-boys Hellas Verona.

And his impressive performances mean that Liverpool are not the only club interested in the talented midfielder, as the report claims Italian giants Roma and Inter Milan are also scouting him closely.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers already has one creative South American playmaker on the books in the shape of Philippe Coutinho, but it looks like the Liverpool manager is thinking about adding another.
