Top five: Powerful strikers

While some strikers rely on their pace and movement, others utilise their brute strength.

The very best strikers can combine the attributes - and the five players on this list often do just that.

These are the top five powerful strikers in world football:

5. Wayne Rooney | Manchester United

Wayne Rooney was immensely powerful as a teenager breaking through at Everton - and he remains one of the Premier League's strongest strikers.

The Manchester United star can outmuscle the majority of his opponents, but still possesses plenty of finesse.

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic | Paris Saint-Germain

A black belt in taekwondo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's martial arts expertise has allowed him to score some breathtaking goals.

Few strikers can hold off defenders as well as the 6ft 5in Sweden international, who has one of the best first touches in the world.

3. Didier Drogba | Galatasaray

If Didier Drogba was a few years younger he would have topped this list. The Ivory Coast legend was the master at backing into defenders, holding up the ball and bringing his teammates into play.

He may have also hit the deck a little too easy at times, but that was purely tactical. Don't be fooled: Drogba was - and is - as strong as an ox.

2. Romelu Lukaku | Everton (on loan from Chelsea)

Chelsea's search for their new Drogba ended before the Ivory Coast striker had even left Stamford Bridge. In the form of Romelu Lukaku they had essentially signed an exact replica.

The Belgium international is incredibly powerful and possesses all the required attributes to become a major European star.

1. Hulk | Zenit St Petersburg

God help any defender who crosses paths with Hulk when the Brazil international is running at full pelt.

The 5ft 10in Zenit striker is 12 stone of pure muscle, equipped with the most powerful - we reckon - left foot in world football.

The Brazilian certainly lives up to his nickname.
