Fulham defender Sascha Riether has been charged by the FA for his part in an incident involving Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj.

Riether seemed to stamp on Januzaj following a coming together near the corner flag during Manchester United's 3-1 over the Cottagers on Saturday.

A statement from the FA read: "Fulham's Sascha Riether has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video during his side's game against Manchester United on 2 November 2013.

"The charge is in relation to an incident involving Riether and United's Adnan Januzaj which occurred in added time of Saturday's match at Craven Cottage.

"The defender has until 6pm on Tuesday 5 November 2013 to respond to the charge.

"Riether is the first player to have been charged retrospectively by The FA under a new pilot project for potential ‘not seen’ incidents in Premier League matches."

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini was incensed by Riether's actions and remonstrated with the 30-year-old, but will not be reprimanded for his actions.

The Belgian midfielder told MUTV after the game: "For me it was a red card. I hope the referee looks at the video later."

Fulham boss Martin Jol admitted afterwards that he would be dealing with the full-back if the accusations prove true.

"If it is true, then we have to talk to him.

"I have got some good back-up players as well, so that [a potential ban] is not a disaster. The result is a disaster."

Manchester United recorded a comfortable win at Craven Cottage, with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Antonio Valencia getting on the scoresheet to move the Red Devils up to 8th in the Premier League.
