Manchester United forward Shinji Kagawa has been outed as a seemingly unlikely fan of Olly Murs, and the popstar has revealed how the Japan international sang one of his hits when they first met.

Murs, who has had four No.1 singles in the UK charts, is a lifelong supporter of the Premier League champions, and surely never expected that, one day, his own signature would be courted by the club's players.

That is the case with Kagawa, however, who was presented with a personalised album from Murs when the two recently met for the first time at Old Trafford, where the singer has a season ticket.

Murs had just returned from a tour of Japan, and was keen to meet Kagawa to share his experiences, and found the Red Devils star only too keen to engage in conversation.

The former X-Factor runner-up also explained how Kagawa sang along to his most recent chart-topper during their recent encounter, which was set up by the club.

"It was a pleasure to meet Shinji. He knew my music and sang a bit of ‘Troublemaker’ which was great. He’s a really good guy,” Murs told the official Manchester United website. "And he gave me a few tips on what to say in Japanese!"

Murs also have his backing to Manchester United manager David Moyes, who has endured a mixed start since succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as the club's manager.

"It’s always great to come to Old Trafford," he added. "We’ve had a tough start to the season but have been doing well recently.

"The fans have been great and are behind David Moyes which is good to see. Hopefully we can continue winning more games."
