Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is being linked with a move to Napoli.

TalkSPORT cite reports in Italy when claiming that Rafa Benitez is eager to link-up with the centre back once again, after the 28-year-old fell down the pecking order on Merseyside.

Agger has struggled to get into the Liverpool side this season following the arrival of Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure, with Brendan Rodgers opting to pair the duo with Martin Skrtel in a 3-5-2 formation.

That’s led to speculation over his future at Anfield, and Benitez – who purchased Agger in January 2006 – could look to take advantage.

The former Reds boss has already raided his old club once this term, with goalkeeper Pepe Reina moving to Serie ‘A’ from the Premier League outfit.

And, whilst Liverpool lack depth in the position, the Danish international is unlikely to be happy spending time on the bench, and might look to look to make a move to continue his development.
