Fabio Coentrao - While Andre Villas-Boas' men have been relatively solid in a defensive capacity so far this season, left-back remains a problem area with Jan Verthongen seemingly growing frustrated at having to shift to left-back.
Coentrao is widely expected to leave current club Real Madrid in January and could prove an excellent addition at White Hart Lane.
Alexandre Pato - Pato's return to his native Brazil has not proven particularly successful, with the 24-year-old likely to return to Europe sooner rather than later. With Spurs struggling in front of goal somewhat this season and Roberto Soldado appearing rather lethargic and cumbersome on occasion, Pato could be the man to add a needed spark to Villas-Boas' attack.
Ezequiel Lavezzi - A long shot perhaps, but Lavezzi has fallen down the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain and will presumably be desperate to ensure that he is able to secure regular first-team football ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
