Manchester United should entice Sandro to Old Trafford

Manchester United's summer recruitment drive did not go to plan with the Premier League champions failing to convince the likes of Barcelona and Roma to part with their stars.

Cesc Fabregas, Daniele De Rossi and Ander Herrera were just some of the names who Manchester United missed out on in the summer, which left David Moyes short of midfield options.

With Anderson still incredibly inconsistent, Ryan Giggs being used sparingly and Darren Fletcher out with a stomach illness, Moyes has had to rely on Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley throughout the opening stages of the season.

Moyes did manage to convince Everton into selling Marouane Fellaini on deadline day but the £27.5million man has so far struggled to acclimatise to the pace of Manchester United's style of football.

The Red Devils are crying out for a midfielder who is used to life in the Premier League and has the physicality to mix it up with Europe's most powerful midfielders.

One man who ticks both boxes is Tottenham star Sandro.

The 24-year-old has been one of Tottenham's most consistent performers over the past couple of seasons, with the Brazilian international now one of the first names on Andre-Villas Boas' team sheet.

Sandro, who moved to Tottenham in the summer of 2010, took a while to settle into life at White Hart Lane but has gone onto become a regular for both club and country.

In fact, Sandro's fine performances led to Manchester United showing an interest in the then 22-year-old back in December 2011.

Manchester United would find it hard to tempt Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into selling one of the north London side's prized assets - but nothing is impossible as seen with two previous deals between the clubs.

The Red Devils convinced Levy into selling both Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov when it seemed like Tottenham were going to reject all offers for the duo.

And although Sandro is content at Tottenham, he surely would not turn down the chance of playing regular Champions League football and competing for Premier League titles.

Moyes has been given the financial backing to spend big on a midfielder in January and Sandro may just be the man to rectify United's problem position.

What do you think Manchester United fans? Is Sandro the defensive midfielder the Red Devils have been crying out for since Roy Keane's departure? Have your say below...
