Arsenal's hopes of signing Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado have been dashed as the Serie A side are confident the Colombian international will 'remain in purple', reports talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old star had been linked with a January move to the Emirates Stadium, however Fiorentina are said to be keen on offering Cuadrado a new long-term deal.

Fiorentina signed the Colombian in the summer after he impressed for Vincenzo Montella's side during a loan spell at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was said to be keen on signing Cuadrado as he is capable of playing at right-back as well as in midfield.

The attacking midfielder, who has scored three goals in 10 appearances for the Viola this season, is said to have attracted interest from Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

However Fiorentina chief executive Sandro Mencucci has dismissed speculation linking Cuadrado with a move away from the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

"The boy is happy to stay at Fiorentina and I am very confident that he will remain in purple for a long time," he told

"He is an extraordinary player and we will endeavour to keep him in Florence."
