Arsenal enter into the weekend fixture with Manchester United hopeful of completing a week of perfection, with victory at Old Trafford able to cap off a dream eight days, which has included defeats of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

As if they needed a further boost following the win in Germany on Wednesday, the Gunners have been provided with something of a fillip before a return to domestic action with the news that Mathieu Flaimini trained on Friday.

Provided the Frenchman navigates the session pain free following the groin strain he sustained against Crystal Palace, then Arsene Wenger would seem likely to welcome him back into the starting XI to face Manchester United.

Arsenal have been unbeaten in every match Flamini has played this season, winning eight and drawing two, and his commanding influence in the centre of midfield could prove vital this weekend.

Flamini's return should mean that Tomas Rosicky drops to the bench after starting against Liverpool and Dortmund, while Aaron Ramsey stays on the right of Arsenal's creative hub.

Jack Wilshere also trained on Friday, but Santi Cazorla should stay ahead of him on the left of Mesut Özil, while Olivier Giroud continues to lead the Arsenal line.

Arsenal predicted line-up to face Manchester United...

Wojciech Szczesny; Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs; Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini; Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Özil, Santi Cazorla; Olivier Giroud.
