Manchester United set sights on 'new Drogba'

Manchester United are being linked with a sensational move for Fulham starlet Moussa Dembele - dubbed 'the new Didier Drogba'.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the Red Devils have been alerted to the 17-year-old after an impressive performance against the club's U21s at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.

Dembele scored for Fulham in a 2-2 draw against the Premier League champions' development side, in a game watched by members of the home team's hierarchy.

Manchester United assistant manager Steve Round was in the stands, whilst former players Nicky Butt and Phil Neville were part of the coaching team. David Beckham was also in the stands to watch the game that saw Darren Fletcher make his return from a bowl condition.

A French youth international, the teenager joined the Cottagers from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012, and has subsequently signed a contract with the west London club until 2015. An additional one-year option has also already been taken-up, according to the paper.

That's unlikely to stop Manchester United manager David Moyes however, as the club continues to build for the future.

And, if the opportunity to sign 'the next Drogba' does arise, then it might be hard for the Premier League champions to turn it down.

The Ivorian became a Premier League legend at Chelsea after arriving from France back in the summer of 2004.

During eight years at Stamford Bridge, the 35-year-old became a Blues legend, winning three league titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League.

He had been linked with a return to Chelsea following Jose Mourinho's re-appointment in west London, but it never materialised.

And, the time may come for 'the next Drogba' to repeat the goalscoring tricks in the future - and Manchester United will hope it's with them.
