Lazio have revealed that they are set to enter contract negotiations with Brazilian playmaker Hernanes, reports The Daily Star.

Hernanes, who runs out of contract at the Italian outfit at the end of next season, has been the subject of interest from some of the major teams across Europe.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are interested in bringing the star to France, however they face competition from two of England's elite clubs.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly interested in securing Hernanes' services and with Andre Villas-Boas looking to further improve his side he could go head-to-head with Arsene Wenger for the player's services.

However both Spurs and the Gunners may now struggle to tempt him to the Premier League as the Lazio President is desperate to keep him at the club and will enter negotiations with his star asset.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has revealed the club will soon enter negotiations with the star as he said: “We have a meeting regarding the contract of Hernanes pencilled in for the next few weeks.

“Am I hopeful? I’m used to dealing with facts. I don’t bandage up my head before breaking it.”

This will come as bad news for the north London rivals as they have been strong admirers of the playmaker.
