Arsenal handed boost in chase for Chelsea striker target

Arsenal have been handed a boost in their chase for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente as the forward has revealed he's been struggling at the Italian champions, reports The Metro

Llorente, who only joined the Italian giants this past summer, has struggled to settle at Juventus and has been linked with a £15 million switch to the Emirates.

The forward has also been linked to Premier League duo Chelsea and Tottenham, but Arsene Wenger seems keen on bringing the striker to England.

The Gunners boss is short of options in attack with Nicklas Bendtner as his main back-up option for Frenchman Olivier Giroud.

And now, with Llorente admitting difficulties in Italy, Wenger may look at bringing him to north London in January.

When speaking to reporters, Llorente said: "I arrived in good shape, but I was left feeling empty because of the training at Juventus.

"My body didn’t work and then my mind started to drift. The competition for places is fighting – there’s five strikers all battling for a place.

"I was mortified at being the last choice striker, but I have had a few games recently.

"I hope for more chances."

If Llorente did make the move to the Emirates, he would be given more of an opportunity to star under Wenger as he would be battling with Giroud for the No.1 striker position.
