David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar congratulated Chelsea teammate Willian after he was called up to the Brazil squad ahead of the forthcoming international friendlies against Honduras and Chile.

The 25-year-old, who has only been capped twice by Brazil, expressed his delight after earning the call from head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari - and added that his Chelsea-based compatriots were also over the moon for him.

"They became very happy when I was called up, they came over, hugged me, told me that this was a happy moment and that I deserved it,” Willian told UOL, as reported by

"I was always with expectation, hopeful, waiting for an opportunity.

"Thank God it happened this time, I'm very happy.”

This is a major chance for Willian, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer, to force his way into the reckoning for Brazil's 23-man squad for next summer's 2014 World Cup finals.

And the winger said that his Chelsea teammates have handed him some invaluable advice after being called up.

"We had never really talked much about the national team, we only did after I was called up," Willian added. "Then I started asking what it is like, what [Luiz Felipe] Scolari is like, they said a lot of good things about him and about the environment there. They gave me good tips for when I arrive there.”

Willian has only sporadically appeared for Chelsea since completing his £32m move to the Premier League title contenders. However, he opened his Premier League account with a sensational goal against Norwich City, while he has also impressed in the Champions League.
