Indianapolis Colts linebacker Erik Walden was given an unnecessary roughness penalty after head-butting Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker, reports

With the Titans leading 14-3 in the second quarter, Walker was the victim of an unprovoked attack, after seeing his helmet ripped off by Walden, who proceeded to launch into the helmet-less Colts star.

Walker hardly helped the situation, after immediately throwing a punch in Walden's direction, in reaction to having his helmet taken off.

By NFL rules, both players should have been ejected from the game, but after referees failed to spot either the initial altercation or the melee that ensued, both Walker and Walden remained on the field of play.

The Colts gave up 27 yards on back-to-back unnecessary roughness penalties, which allowed the Titans to kick a field goal, extending their lead by a further three points at the halfway stage.

"What got him riled up? I was whupping his butt, that's what happened, and the cat couldn't take it when he was getting whupped," reflected Walker in an interview with Jim Wyatt after the game.

"He got frustrated, and he should have been ejected for what he did. That's bush league and that's the type of stuff we don't need in this league.

"I threw a punch at him; I'm not going to lie about that. It's on film. But that was just a reaction. You head butt me in the face because I am beating you? C'mon."

The Titans ended Thursday's clash on the wrong side of a 30-27 defeat against the Colts, but Walker is adamant he will get his own back on Walden.

"I whupped on him the whole game, and I'm going to whup on him again in two weeks," he added. "We are not cool. That type of stuff doesn't belong in the NFL."
