The New York Knicks lost their second game in the space of three days when they took on the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

The Knicks were made to pay for Metta World Peace and Tyson Chandler's enforced absence through injury.

The Hawks were desperate for revenge after the New York Knicks had beaten them 95-91 in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Atlanta stormed into an 11-point lead in the closing stages of the third quarter, while Knicks star Carmelo Anthony was watching from the bench.

The Knicks started the final quarter brightly, but were unable to peg back the Atlanta Hawks' dominant lead.

Melo's 23 points ensured the Knicks had a chance of reducing the Hawks' lead, however the Hawks held on to claim the win.

Mike Woodson will be hoping his side can bounce back from their latest defeat when the New York Knicks face the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
