Daniel Sturridge has compared Liverpool strike partner Luis Suarez to Chelsea's £50million front-man Fernando Torres, reports the Daily Star.

The England international has had the pleasure of playing alongside both players, describing the pair as world-class individuals, with a number of similarities, despite their obvious contrasting styles of play.

Sturridge featured in the same Chelsea team as Torres, before swapping Stamford Bridge for Anfield in January 2013; the same club that the Spanish star scored 81 goals in 142 games for, before leaving Liverpool for a move in the opposite direction two years earlier.

Suarez was signed as a replacement for Torres, and has gone on to establish himself as a firm fans' favourite on Merseyside, and has struck up a prolific partnership with Sturridge for Brendan Rodgers's side this season.

"I don't feel there is that much difference between them as they are world-class footballers, although obviously they have contrasting styles," explained the 24-year-old.

"Torres is more of an out-and-out goalscorer and Luis is a bit more like me, where he can play through the middle but drop off and have a dribble at different times.

"They have both scored goals for fun in the Premier League and Torres was frightening at Liverpool.

"They are great finishers in their own right but I didn't play in a front two with Torres [at Chelsea], so it's difficult for me to make an accurate comparison.

"I love playing with Luis and we link up so well together, but I was out on the wing a lot when I was in the same team as Nando.

"It's worked out better for me at Liverpool and it's really clicked with Luis. I feel privileged to have shared a pitch with each of them."

Torres has endured a difficult time at Chelsea following his high profile move, scoring just 16 Premier League goals in 90 appearances for the Blues.
