Everton welcome Liverpool to Goodison Park for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League, with Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers going head-to-head for the first time in a Merseyside derby.

With both teams having started the 2013/14 campaign in fine form, everybody is anticipating an exciting, free-flowing encounter, in celebration of English football's oldest rivalry.

The Reds travel across Stanley Park sitting second in the table with 23 points from their opening 11 games, and will know that victory will - temporarily at least - move them to the Premier League summit.

Meanwhile, the Toffees are three points and four places behind, but will be looking for victory to strengthen their position among the European places.

As always ahead of kick-off, much of the pre-match talk is about the respective starting line-ups for both sides, so GiveMeSport has decided to pick a combined Merseyside XI based on statistics accumulated this season.
