Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is tracking Lazio star Senad Lulic as he considers his targets for the January transfer window.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the 27-year-old Lazio midfielder is one of several targets for the Chelsea boss as he looks to strengthen his squad for a title push in the New Year.

Lulic, and Bosnia and Herzegovina international, signed for Lazio for around €3m in 2010 from Swiss club Young Boys and he's impressed in the Italian top flight.

He's been a key first-team player for the Rome-based club since his move, and has made seven appearances in the league already this season.

Lulic can play left-back, left-midfield or central midfield - and his versatility could be an important reason for Mourinho's interest in the player.

The Chelsea boss has been linked with several full-backs, including Southampton's Luke Shaw, Wolfsburg's Ricardo Rodriguez and Bayern Munich's Philipp Lahm.

Ashley Cole is typically first-choice but has not featured since he was dropped following the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle last month.
