Real Madrid teenager Alvaro Medran stole the headlines in Spain last weekend with a breathtaking strike from well inside his own half, floating an effort into the net a full 60 yards from goal.
Medran's effort came for Madrid's C team in a 2-0 win over Pena Sport FC, catching the goalkeeper off his line with an effort reminiscent of Spanish midfield linchpin Xabi Alonso's strikes from a similar distance for Liverpool against Luton Town and Newcastle United.
The 19-year-old, who on Real's official website describes himself as a "midfielder who organizes play and has a good shot", certainly exceeded his own modest billing with his second of the season.
Comparisons with Alonso don't end with that remarkable goal either, with the deep-lying midfielder a standout performer for Madrid's third team early in the campaign, proving comfortable in possession in his first professional season with the Spanish giants.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will certainly have been impressed with the Spanish youth international's effort, which you can check out by watching the video at the top of the page.
